Surrendering To God’s Plans

Adoption isn’t just about growing your family; it’s about stepping into a story of redemption that God is weaving. It’s about surrender—letting go of your fears and doubts and trusting the One who sees the end from the beginning. When I think back to our adoption journey, I remember the moment I realized this wasn’t just about me or my family; it was about what God was doing. He was inviting us to trust Him in a deeper way than ever before.

Commit Your Way to the Lord
Psalm 37:5 encourages us to “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act.” Surrender doesn’t mean you won’t feel nervous or have questions—it means bringing those fears to God and allowing Him to carry them for you.

There were times in our journey when I felt overwhelmed by the unknowns. But every time I brought those worries to God, He reminded me that He was already working. He is always ahead of us, preparing the way.

Surrender is an Active Trust
Surrendering to God’s plan doesn’t mean standing still. It means praying, seeking wisdom, and taking steps of faith even when you can’t see the whole picture. One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is that surrender is not a passive thing—it’s an active trust. It’s choosing to believe that God is good, even when the wait feels long or the process feels hard.

The beauty of surrender is that it takes the weight off our shoulders and places it in God’s capable hands. When we trust Him, we find the peace that comes from knowing He is in control.

Obedience Over Perfection
Adoption isn’t about having everything figured out—it’s about saying yes to where God is leading. There’s no perfect plan or perfect family; there’s just a perfect God who equips us for what He’s called us to. 2 Corinthians 12:9 says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” That verse carried me through some of the hardest moments of our adoption journey, and I hope it encourages you too.

God is Writing a Beautiful Story
As you prayerfully consider adoption, remember that God’s plans are always good. He is the ultimate Author, weaving a story of love, redemption, and hope. Saying yes to adoption isn’t just saying yes to a child; it’s saying yes to being part of God’s bigger story. Step forward in faith, knowing that He will lead you exactly where you need to be.
